That will get you about 20% off some of their cameras, not sure about the 5D2 or 3. If you don't want to wait for a sale then call them about the Canon Loyality Program. Canon will typically go 15-20% off (even the 5D3 was marked down 15% once) for a sale but sometime go up to 30% off. My only suggestion is that you should either wait for a sale or check out CLP. But the warranty is only 90 days so make sure you FULLY test the camera when you get it.

But regardless, you'll love either one you pick.Ĭanon has been doing an excellent job of refurbishing their DSLRs & lens (their P&S cameras, not so much).

If you do sports or children candids, you'll probably prefer the 3. For that, the 5D2 is probably 90-95% of the 5D3. I do almost exclusively landscapes and portrait/group shots. I rented the 5D3 & it is a better camera but the real difference seems to come mainly in speed of focus & video. While it does have some bulk and weight, it is less than the 24-70, which means it will spend more time on the camera.I still shoot with the 5D2 & I love it. It has enough zoom on the telephoto end to make moving around in the shot less of a necessity. It also has enough wide angle to use for larger groups, even indoors. You really see the quality when you move outdoors and use it for landscape and creative images. It is a great general purpose lens for that range of work. My primary use for this lens is for general photography from capturing family moments to great auction photos. It replaced the 28-135 IS kit lens and the larger 28-80 F4L lens. For those reasons, I consider it the perfect carry lens. It is also not as large as those lenses which makes it a bit easier to carry. the older 28-80 F4L, and compared it to the 24-70 L lenses. While those lenses may have a slight edge in quality, this lens makes up for it in that extra useable range. It is the right lens for most situations, and the image quality is exceptional. I use this on on a 40D, and it stays on my camera most of the time. This lens turns your DSLR into the best point and shoot ever. Moving to a DSLR will always be a jump up from a point and shoot, and many of the regular EF and USM lenses are great lenses, but the "L" lenses are just that much better at everything they do. If you have never tried a Red Ring "L" lens, you don't know what you are missing. To those that may be going through a struggle between the F4 and the F2.8 unless you enjoy very shallow DOF then I would suggest to save a couple dollars, get the 24-105. I also want to add that the red ring looks very stunning. I WILL NOT buy any other piece of glass unless it has the letter L on it this includes my living room windows. The clarity of this lens is absolutely remarkable and well, I believe in L glass now. The IS isn't as effective as 2.8, but it isn't bad at all. I landed on the 24-105 due to the extra length it offers while taking a gamble that IS would counter balance the low light capabilities of the 2.8. Since I'm writing a review on the 24-105, chances are I bought the 24-105. I struggled between the 24-70 and the 24-105. This enticed me to look into a mid range zoom L lens for my arsenal of soul hunting gear. This lens is what got me off my high horse named "Prime." Shortly after I bought the wide angle I overheard from other users that the lens was "L" quality. Ok, so I gave in and I bought an EF-S 10-22 and I love the sharp images it produces. I believe that prime glass is very sharp, I wasn't going to pay for zoom capabilities since I would rather utilize my feet, and I wasn't going to pay for IS since I would rather have a faster lens. I wasn't a believer in L glass, IS, or zoom.
